During our pre-wedding meeting, we suggested to Elizabeth & Anthony that they meet in private before their wedding ceremony for some ‘First Look’ images due to the light restrictions pretty late on a Mid-Autumn day as well as putting aside old fashioned superstitions and traditions, they both agreed that this would be a great idea.
On the wedding day, just before the ceremony, we took Anthony down to Jesmond Dene next to where the couple were getting married. Anthony waited anxiously for Elizabeth to join him, with his back turned, she slowly walked up to him and remained just a few meters behind him. Once Anthony turned around it was as if neither of us were even there. They were totally engrossed in their own little bubble. It was one of the most beautiful moments we’ve ever captured.
Many couples across the world (and now in the UK) are starting to have a ‘First Look’ shoot. You may be saying “This will surely ruin the walk down the aisle moment?” For couples who value their wedding photography and film highly, the ‘First Look’ provides extra time to capture great images, and can be done in a way that is equally memorable and romantic as the traditional Aisle Reveal.
Couples enjoy one-on-one time before the ceremony and getting their photography early can diminish the stress of the day. Many churches will often restrict the photo/video team from the altar area in the front of the church, which can make getting a first-reaction shot of the couple difficult. The First Look reveal is the perfect solution for restrictive ceremony locations.

We believe Elizabeth & Anthony are the first couple in the north east to have a real ‘First Look’ shoot but since then we have shot a further two and we expect to shoot many more, watch this space!
